Indian network launches English TV show in US

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL), a worldwide content company, has launched its first English language South Asian reality show, Made In America.

The show will be broadcasted through 2017 and 2018

The show is entirely produced and filmed in the US and marks the first time that a channel of Indian origin is producing content on a global scale for international audiences, read a statement from the channel. It centers around six South Asian millennial women who were chosen from a nationwide search in the US, which drew in over 6,000 applicants.

Hosted by Nina Davuluri, the first-ever Indian American woman to be crowned Miss America, the six women are mentored by Nina as they are pushed to their limits for over a period of 10 weeks in various types of training, while competing to win the coveted title of ‘Made In America’.

Aamir says the upcoming film wouldn’t have been possible without Meghna’s unique soulful voice. While introducing the talent behind it, Aamir told the media: “Since the film is the story of a 14-year-old girl who is a singer and song-writer, getting the right voice for the character was very important. Meghna is a very talented girl… There is a soul in her voice and we looked for that. I think we are lucky to have her on board. She has a long way to go.”
