One of India's most prized possessions Anil Kapoor and AR Rahman were felicitated 10 years ago at many global platforms for their respective contributions to Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire. However, it appears that not everything is okay in wonderland. Apparently, Kapoor holds a grudge against the composer and we're ready to spill the beans about it all!

On Monday, the two handsome powerhouses of Bollywood celebrated 10 years of Slumdog Millionaire’s Oscar win in the presence of lyricist Gulzar and singers Sukhwinder Singh, Mahalakshmi Iyer and Ila Arun. The win includes two Academy Awards for Rahman for original score and original song Jai Ho.

In an interactive session with the media, Rahman revealed how Kapoor missed the chance to see him receiving the Golden Globe award all because the composer was “thirsty”.

“Remember the Golden Globes? I was sitting next to Anil and I was so thirsty. He was very kind and said he will get a Sprite for me. By the time he went and got it, I got the award,” AR Rahman recalled as the audience shared a laugh.

“I will never forgive him. I was waiting for him to get an award. An Indian, Rahman sahab going on stage and getting an award but he was thirsty, so I said I will go. There was so much crowd at the bar counter, by the time I was back, he got the award," added the Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga star.

Anil, who essayed the role of the antagonist in Slumdog Millionaire, was happy that Rahman made up for this by bringing Oscar, home! One can say, Kapoor successfully witnessed a moment in history!

“But then I saw the Oscar which was the cherry on the cake. You don’t know what I felt when he went on stage and the song was played. I wish I could break the protocol and start dancing on stage. I had to control myself,” he said.

On a related note, Slumdog Millionaire was loosely based on the novel Q & A (2005) by Indian author Vikas Swarup. The story revolves around Jamal Malik, age 18, from the Juhu slums of Mumbai, who enters the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? as a contestant.
