Today (February 4, 2019) is the World Cancer Day and to mark the same, two inspiring ladies of the entertainment industry came forward addressed about their journey of fighting the C word. Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre and director Tahira Kashyap were diagnosed with Metastatic Cancer and Breast Cancer respectively last year. Both of these women truly touched our hearts today with their heartfelt messages about fighting cancer. Both of them are still under-going their respective treatments and are in so much pain, yet are spreading positivity and hope in this cancerous environment.

With a gorgeous monochrome click, Sonali Bendre wrote on her Instagram, "World Cancer Day… who would have thought it would become such a thing… but it has! And just the mere mention of the C word brings dread in the hearts of anyone who hears it. We fear it so much that we’d rather not talk about it… which is why it’s important to have a day where we pull out the band aid and help us deal with this disease."

Telling about how she overcame her fears, 44-year-old actress penned, "I was scared too, but soon realised that burying my head in the sand was not the way to deal with this. And so… with the little experience I have had, I urge you all to take the time to understand it. There's more to cancer than being emotional or weak or even being called a fighter or a survivor. It requires you to study it, find out what works for you and to be diligent about your treatment. It requires days of strongly believing in oneself, of knowing that tomorrow will be better than today. It is not a fight against negative thoughts. It's taking a stand to not give in, no matter what." She concluded by the mantra she lives by now, "Most importantly, it is about living every day, and not just surviving. Just taking it #OneDayAtATime makes it easier to #SwitchOnTheSunshine. #WorldCancerDay"

Her beloved husband, famous producer Goldie Behl also shared an adorable picture of Sonali kissing their son and wrote, "Today is #WorldCancerDay; a reminder that how many people the world over are fighting this ailment. But there is always hope. Let your only mantra be to look for small victories and take everyday #onedayatatime! And make sure you have those care givers around you who make your life a little brighter. Love, care and positivity go a long way in bringing small victories every day. Be fearless and live positively!"

On the other hand, Tahira Kashyap has declared World Cancer Day as her day of celebration. She shared a bold picture of herself only donning her scars with utter-confidence and wrote, "Today is my day! Wish you all a happy #worldcancerday and hope each one of us celebrates this day in an embracing way. That we remove any stigma or taboo associated with it. That we spread awareness about it and that we have self love no matter what. I truly embrace all my scars as they are my badges of honour. There is nothing known as perfect. Happiness lies in truly accepting yourself."

In the Instagram post she also mentioned a special quote from her mentor that keeps her motivated. "This was a tough one for me. But this picture was my decision as I want to celebrate not the disease but the spirit with which I endured. To quote my mentor, Diasaku Ikeda, “Leading an undefeated life is eternal victory. Not being defeated, never giving up, is actually a greater victory than winning, not being defeated means having the courage to rise to the challenge. However many times we’re knocked down, the important thing is we keep getting up and taking one step-even a half step- forward” #worldcancerday #breastcancerawareness #breastcancerwarrior #turningkarmaintomission #boddhisatva," she wrote.

Her pillar of support, her husband and actor Ayushmann Khurrana posted the same fearless click of his wife and wrote dedicated some beatiful lines for her. "Paa le tu aisi Fateh. Samandar teri pyaas se darey. These lines are for you @tahirakashyap."

Further in his post he calls her a lifer, and we couldn't agree more. "Your scars are beautiful. You are a trailblazer. Keep inspiring the millions to fight their toughest personal battles. Be the lifer you are! #worldcancerday," Ayushmann added.

Iron women Sonali and Tahira are stronger than anyone else and we hope that they share ‘all-cured’ messages with us on the same day, next year. More power to them!
