Prime Video and Excel Entertainment's joint venture Mirzapur turned out to be a massive hit among the masses. Directed by Karan Anshuman, Mirzapur is a web-series that revolves around a crime-oriented town named Mirzapur in the Purvanchal region of UP and its biggest crime-lord, Akhandanand Tripathi.
Recently, the makers of Mirzapur organized a success party of the Indian web-series which was attended by the actors including Pankaj Tripathi, Divyendu Sharma, Rasika Duggal, Ali Fazal, Vikrant Massey and Richa Tripathi. Actor-producer Farhan Akhtar also joined the cast and crew of Mirzapur at the success-bash which took place on Wednesday in Mumbai.
At the success-bash of Mirzapur, Farhan revealed that the actor's will soon begin shooting for its second season. Talking about the success of the much-appreciated web-series, Farhan said: "I am feeling really happy. It's the second show which we have created with Amazon Prime Video. Our earlier collaboration Inside Edge was a successful web series and now Mirzapur is getting more success than that. So it is a really nice thing and we are here to celebrate."
When asked if the makers have started preparing for the second season, Rock On actor said: "Yes, of course. At the end of the show, viewers might have got an idea that there is scope for season 2. So, we are working on that. Hopefully, very soon we will start shooting for it."
"Apart from that, they have appreciated the drama and performances of the actors. The kind of world we have created in this show, once someone watches one episode, and then they feel curious to know what happens in the subsequent episodes. That kind of a feeling among the audience is always nice to have for a web series," added Akhtar.
Also, Mirzapur actor Ali Fazal earlier confirmed that the second season of Mirzapur will soon be started. Fazal said: “About season 2, hopefully early next year. We are hoping to bring you back to the world of Mirzapur. So early next year we would but before season 2 I have some film commitments to finish both here and abroad and yeah, then after that we will begin.”
On a related note, Mirzapur's first season ends with the death of Vikrant Massey's character Bablu Pandit who happens to be involved in Akhandanand aka Pankaj Tripathi's world of crime. Divyendu Sharma who plays the role of Akhandanand's son and the sole heir to his wealth and business, Munna Tripathi is seen creating a massacre in its final episode which leaves the audience curious about what will happen next.
Now, the upcoming season will focus more on Ali Fazal's character Guddu Pandit whose brother Bablu Pandit is killed by his mentor and boss Akhandanand's son Munna Tripathi.
