Much loved Indian Netflix original series Selection Day is yet coming back with a new season. The producer of the series Anil Kapoor has announced the date of the release of the second instalment on his Twitter handle. Through a discussion between cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Anil Kapoor, the fans came across the news of the release. The producer revealed the date to be 22 April.
The series is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Aravind Adiga which was released on December 28. It stars Mohammad Samad, Yash Dholye, Karanvir Malhotra, Rajesh Tailang, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ratna Pathak Shah, Shiv Pandit, Parul Gulati and Akshay Oberoi. It is the story that talks about a boy named Manju and his elder brother Radha who come to Mumbai with their father. Like all the other parents, Manju’s father also has their career planned for them and wants his sons to be the cricket stars. On a contrary, Manju hates to follow the path of being a cricketer and befriends rick Javed Ansari who opens up a new world for him.
The first season of the show consists of 6 episodes giving the audience an insight into the early days of the boys in Mumbai. The second season aims to focus on the forthcoming story of their lives introducing the viewers to the behavioural change in them, as the under 19 cricket selection day approaches near. “Will Manju follow his own path or will he get selected on selection day?” Netflix said in a press release.
On a relatable note, Anil Kapoor’s Selection Day is the third Indian original Netflix series after Sacred Games and Ghoul. It also stars Mahesh Manjrekar, Ratna Pathak Shah and Shiv Pandit and is being directed by Udayan Prasad.
