Making a grand debut at the recently held le Bal des Débutantes 2017 in Paris were Ananya Panday and a score progenies of the world’s elite families. As royal princesses and princes waltz around in dapper suits and extraordinary gowns at the ball, Ananya stood out in an embellished blue gown designed by Jean Paul Gaultier.
The 18-year-old daughter of Bollywood actor Chunky Pandey was escorted by charming cavalier Prince Philip d’Arenberg.
For the waltz rehearsal, Ananya donned a stunning black tulle Firefly dress designed by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. Gorgeously strapless and flared, the animal motifs embellished dress made her flaunt her beauty bone in the perfect way.
Also in attendance were Ananya’s brother Ahaan Panday and Indian royalty Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur and Princess Gauravi Kumari. While Ahaan was the cavalier for Princess Alice of Belgium, the Jaipur princess’ cavalier was the prince of Luxembourg.
Ava Elizabeth Phillippe, daughter of Reese Witherspoon, marked her debut gliding the ballroom alongside the 19-year-old maharajah. She wore a voluminous gold Giambattista Valli ballgown custom-made just for her.
This year, designers on le Bal’s shortlist also include Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad, Oscar de la Renta, Emmanuel Ungaro, Sandro Barros, Christian Dior, Ralph & Russo and many more.
Le Bal des Débutantes is a fashion event created by Ophélie Renouard in 1992 to raise money for charity organisations while celebrating French way of life. The event brings together young women below 22 years of age; they don haute couture gowns and elegant designer numbers from fashion houses around the world.
Since 2009, le Bal has supported Enfants d'Asie, which provides education for girls in Southeast Asia: and Seleni, a non-profit that finances research in healthcare for adolescent mothers.
