Can you imagine it’s been 19 long years since we saw Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla starrer Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani on the silver screen? While the movie did not have a good run at the time of the release, it manages to be one of the most loved movies of the 90s!
Helmed by Aziz Mirza, the film featured Shah Rukh and Juhi essaying the role of television reporters from rival news channels. The film was produced under the banner Dreamz Unlimited which later transformed into SRK's current banner Red Chillies Entertainment.
Last year, while talking to Twitter, the Raees star wrote, "This one was special. It was a complete disaster and completely written off. Our failure made us, Aziz @iam_juhi & me stronger. Love PBDHH". Following that, choreographer Farah Khan had shared a picture of SRK and her self from the sets of the movie. "B4 he took off his shirt for me, @iamsrk was cool enough to wear pink leotards , & completely ROCKED IT!! Circa 2000 , shoot of Phir bhi dil hain hindustani! #realmenwearpink #thursdaythrowback #thingsimakeyoudo" she wrote.
Gorgeous actor Juhi Chawla, who believes if any of her films get made, then it should be Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, said in an interview earlier, "Maybe Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. When we made the film, the media was just beginning to explode, it was too early to talk about channel wars, TRPs, etc. There was so much behind-the-scenes politics, about politicians etc, that probably people didn’t get the nuances at that time. But it makes so much sense today, I think that film ought to be worked upon now."
She further added that it will be interesting to see Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt reprising the lead roles in the remake of the film. Not collection-wise, but Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani will always be close to out hearts.
This movie has given us some memorable song and moments, specifically “I am the best” and the title track of the film, “Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani” that still fit magically into our lives!
