Our Tinsel town is all about being up beat and hip, maybe that's why Bollywood celebrities have been very open about the whole of second marriages. From the time it was forbidden for a common man to even think about divorce, our very own Bollywood celebrities were busy making the headlines with their love tales, divorces and extra martial affairs.
Today, we'll know more about some celebrities who tied the nuptials for the second time but without the legal separation from their first wives. Yes, you read it right! Have a look:
Bhatt married his childhood sweetheart Lorraine Bright at the age of 20. His biggest success, Aashiqui, is based on his relationship with her. But things hit rock bottom when he had his extramarital affair with actress Parveen Babi (which also didn’t last long), and the two parted ways without divorcing each other. Later he married Soni Razdan, who was the reigning queen of Bollywood. Mahesh changed his religion to Muslim which allowed him to keep two wives.
Everyone in the 1980s believed what a great pair Raj Babbar and Smita Patil were. But he was already a married man to Nadira Zaheer with two kid. But this did not stop him from opening the doors of his heart for Smita Patil. And, he left his wife to marry his new flame. Because of this marriage, Smita even drew several criticisms from many feminist organisations. However, this marriage did not last for long, as Smita died due to some postnatal complications, just after two weeks of giving birth to their child, Prateik. Shortly after her demise, Raj reunited with wife Nadira.
The love story of India's greatest script writer, Salim Khan, is a great example of two wives coexisting peacefully. He got hitched to the dancing queen of Bollywood, Helen, without drifting apart from Salma, his first wife.
This list can not be completed without the mention of He-Man of Indian cinema, Dharmendra. Though he was already married to Prakash Kaur, he fell in love with Hema Malini on the sets of Tum Haseen Main Jawan. From his first wife, he was blessed with two sons, Sunny and Bobby.
Dharmendra couldn't get married to the Dream Girl, as his first wife refused to get divorced so he converted into Islam.
We all know that Sanjay Khan was married to Zarine Khan, but cupid played its role when Sanjay first met Zeenat Aman on the sets of Abdullah. Not long after their love story began, many media reports claimed that Sanjay Khan married the actress without leaving his first wife.
Everything is fair in love, war, and Bollywood; so, these celebrities just followed what their heart told them.
