Vishal Bhardwaj is known for taking up sensitive topics but more than that, he's known for his great admiration for The Bard's work. Famous for his Shakespeare trilogy, Vishal concluded his quest with 2014 hit movie, Haider starring Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.
While writing and directing the trilogy that includes, Maqbool (2003) from Macbeth, Omkara (2006) from Othello, and Haider (2014) from Hamlet; Vishal gained much critical recognisition and appreciation but that’s not why we’re here.
Every movie takes its own struggle and problems to become great but then some movies just speak to you in the most unexpected way and Haider is just like the latter. Haider is Vishal's take on Hamlet, set in the backdrop of communal tension-filled Kashmir.
The film surely opened new doors for Shahid Kapoor but it also gave new hope to Bollywood. From its great display of emotions and direction to its beautifully-crafted dialogues, the movie had it all.
So here's revisiting those deeply moving lines.
I’m going to watch it again tonight. What about you?
