The second instalment of 2016 hit fantasy sci-fi movie, Suicide Squad will be directed by Guardians of the Galaxy maker James Gunn. And the most exciting part for all the DC fans throughout the world is that Zack Snyder will be backing up the project.
Although, there are no official statements confirming the same but DC Daily host Tiffany Smith has confirmed that Gunn is on-board for the making of Suicide Squad 2. DC and Warner Bros production Suicide Squad was a part of the DC Extended Universe which runs parallel with the Justice League.
Starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie, Suicide Squad did surprisingly well at the worldwide Box Office. “It’s official that we have got a new member of the DC family: acclaimed writer/director James Gunn has been attached to write Suicide Squad 2. Gunn is poised to bring a completely fresh take to the franchise after the first film was written and directed by David Ayer,” said Tiffany.
Suicide Squad 2 was originally to be written and directed by Gavin O'Connor. Reportedly, the story he pitched was too close to that of the Birds of Prey movie which is why his version of the second instalment of Smith starrer was put on hold.
Reports further add that Margot will reprise her role of Harley Quinn in the upcoming sci-fi movie. However, rest of the cast is yet not finalized by the makers of the movie.
