DC Comics promised their worldwide fans of delivering a Joker's standalone movie in association with Warner Bros. Although, DC's iconic villain Joker was last seen in 2016's hit movie, 'Suicide Squad' but the history of Batman's archenemy Joker dates way before Batman hit puberty.

The iconic villainous character of Joker which was introduced in the DC's Batman comics has always been portrayed as the epitome of crime and madness. Well, the good news is that DC Comics has kick-started the much awaited Joker standalone movie, which will be released on 4th October, 2019.
The upcoming Joker movie will explore the origin of the iconic villain and will be directed by Todd Phillips. Although, the origin of Joker dates way back than Bruce Wayne aka Batman's origin but recent reports suggest that the audience will be treated with a young Bruce Wayne and his butler/caretaker/side-kick Alfred Pennyworth.
Sources confirm that DC has finalized actor Dante Pereira-Olson as the young Bruce and Douglas Hodge for playing the role of a young Alfred Pennyworth.
Earlier, reports revealed that Hollywood actor Joaquin Phoenix will be playing the role of Joker in the upcoming movie. Besides Phoenix, Dante and Hodge, the upcoming DC Comics' movie will feature Zazie Beetz, Marc Maron and veteran star Robert De Niro in pivotal characters.
On a related note, Joaquin Phoenix starrer Joker movie is meant to be darker and more experimental in tone and content, which is described as being akin to a crime drama.
