On Sunday, our most loved talk show hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar, Karan with Karan Season 6, featured the glorious Bachchan siblings, Abhishek and Shweta. While the show has been graced by other siblings including Arjun Kapoor-Janhvi Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor-Harshvardhan Kapoor, but the Bachchan pair made the episode better than anyone else with their sense of humour and quirky answers.
From their childhood anecdotes to their interesting family dynamics and individual professions, the brother-sister duo surely had a lot to talk about. Beginning with their mother Jaya Bachchan and her hatred for the paparazzi; Shweta said, “She gets very claustrophobic when there are too many people around her. She also doesn’t like it when people take her pictures without asking her. She comes from that school of thought.”
To which, Bachchan Jr. quickly added that she also hates clicking selfies. Shweta then explained, that the veteran actor feels that she looks bad in selfies and that’s why she hates them.
Abhishek, later on, spoke about his elaborate him career and the downfall. “It’s tricky. It’s not the pressure of what was happening. It was more about how I was approaching my work which I thought was incorrect. I was becoming very complacent and unconformable," he said.
“I was part of huge films, huge budgets, huge stars, huge collections, everything was hunky-dory. I had no pressure as I was standing by the side or behind somebody else who was shouldering all the pressure. I was making lots of money. Those films were making lots of money. It became very easy. With all respect to my co-stars, I didn’t come to the industry to stand behind anyone,” he added.
The siblings further revealed who's favorite of which parent. Apparently. Abhishek Bachchan is his mother’s favourite, and Shweta shares a close bond with her father. He said, “Even if God comes down, if Shweta Di is there it’s all over! Nothing else matters to dad.”
However, Shweta was quick to add that Jaya Bachchan’s eyes sparkle when Abhishek enters the room. She said, “She is exactly like her character in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. She looks at Abhishek the way she looked at Shah Rukh Khan in the film.”
During the rapid fire round, Abhishek was asked what he loves, hates and tolerates about his lovely wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He replied, he loves Aishwarya because she loves him, hates her packing skills and tolerates them too. He also said he would not like to change anything about his relationship with her. Shweta ended up winning the hamper.
On the work front, Shweta made headlines last year with the release of her book, Paradise Towers and the launch of her fashion label MXS. Abhishek, on the other hand, was seen on the big screen after a sabbatical of two years with Anurag Kashyap's Manmarziyaan opposite Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal.
