There might be a worm living inside you

Yes! We meant human body as in mine or your body. For a fact, there are certain slimy, evil parasites which can penetrate into your body and survive into it as well. Here is a list of five such dangerous parasites which can use your body as a host.



Do not let its name confuse you as it it resembles a cow whip but can grow only up to two inches. Unfortunately, children are more prone to getting infected by this worm as they play around the dirt a lot. In usual cases, whipworm causes severe diarrhea or anemia while in extreme cases whipworm may cause rectal prolapsed, a condition in which the rectum hangs out of the anus.

Acanthamoeba Keratitis


However, this is a rare parasitic worm as it happens only with people who wear contact visual lenses. This worm can easily reach your lenses to affect the cornea and turning it milky white. In extreme cases, this worm can also lead to melting of your cornea.

Lymphatic filariasis (Elephantiasis)


Roundworms which can be easily transferred to your body by mosquitoes which then can live comfortably inside you for up to eight years. And during this long period of eight years, this worm will be producing millions of larvae. This worm may lead to enormous swelling of the limbs and physical handicaps.

Guinea Worm (Dracunculiasis)


The guinea worm can be ingested when a person drinks impure water containing water fleas which are carriers of its larvae. Initially, it latches onto the intestinal wall but gradually enters body tissues. It may cause blisters on feet through which they later emerge.

Liver Fluke (Fasciola and Clonorchis sinensis)


As per its name this worm uses liver as a host and harmfully affecting it. It has a flatworm-like structure. These worms can enter your body through polluted water or can be found inside some worm-infected fishes.  These parasites cause jaundice and severe liver infections.
