In fact, Indian festivals are the prime occasions when you unknowingly overdose on sugar intake.  Although sweets are a major part of each and every Indian festival but sugar intake must be strictly monitored for a healthy life. You do not want to compromise your health due to a festival.

Well! There are a variety of sugar-free sweets available in the market but due to the food additives and preservatives added for commercial selling, even they are not safe. Are you wondering what’s safe? Using delicious natural sweeteners or artificial sugar-free sweeteners? The answer lies within. Obviously and undoubtedly, natural sweeteners like fruits are the best and healthiest sweeteners available. Therefore, in order to make sure that you savor your taste buds just like everyone else and stay healthy like no one else, some healthy and delicious ‘date’ sweet recipes are listed below:

Date-peanut laddu

Method: You can start by taking some peanuts in a thick bottom wok. Then roast peanuts on a low flame till the nuts begin to crackle and the color changes to golden brown. Wash some dates and chop them into small pieces and remove the skin of the nuts. Grind the nuts in your grinder. Once the nuts are grinned to a fine powder, transfer the dates to the wok. Add ghee and cook on low flame. Once the dates soften, mash it with the back of a ladle and add peanut powder. When the mixture is warm enough to handle, mix with your hands and mash to get a mixture with dough like consistency. Make walnut size laddu and store in an airtight container.

Method: Start by chopping some assorted nuts and keep it aside. Then, process dates in a food processor until small bits remain. It should form”dough" like consistency and will roll into a bars. Dry roast or toast the rolled oats in a non-stick pan for a few minutes until the color has change to a light brown. Make sure not to burn the oats. Place the oats, chopped nuts and dates in a bowl and set aside. Now, take a small saucepan and warm honey and peanut butter over low heat. Stir and pour over the oats mixture and then mix, breaking up the dates till all the ingredients are well combined. Once thoroughly mixed, transfer to a dish/ pan lined with aluminum foil/ parchment paper so they lift out easily. Press down until uniformly flattened. Cover with aluminum foil/ parchment paper or plastic wrap, and let it set in the refrigerator or freezer for 25 to 30 minutes to harden. Remove the set bar from the dish and chop into even bars. And store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Method: Start by heating a nonstick pan over medium flame. Then dry roast chopped nuts for 1-2 minutes till they get a little brown in color. Turn off the heat and let it settle. Now, blend some dates in a blender for once. Heat some ghee in a pan over low flame, and add in the dates. Stir for a couple of minutes until it turns into a soft mixture. Add the roasted nuts and mix well. Then add condensed milk or honey so everything comes together to form a single lump. Allow the mixture to cool before dividing it into parts and shaping them into small cylindrical rolls.
