The risk of infection and flu increases during the monsoon season. You may all love the monsoon but it brings along a host of ailments, ranging from a cough and cold to severe infections, increasing the risk of hospitalisation.

Rain makes you happy but infections make your cry!

You might not realize it but monsoon not only gives you a normal-ENT problem every time, it might also give you health issues including typhoid, malaria, cholera, dengue, etc.

To help you in keeping yourself safe from such infections, we’ve compiled a list of 5 easy tips that will help you prevent monsoon-related diseases and stay fit.

Personal Hygiene

This mantra is not just for monsoon but for life! This includes washing hands using soap and clean water regularly to protect you from cold, cough, flu, and other infections. Carry an umbrella and suitable clothing to keep you dry.

Drink RO Water Only

Make sure that you're drinking water is cleaned and boiled, as it'll help in reducing the chances of any water-borne disease. Going by the Ayurveda, drinking boiling water, especially during rainy season, makes it more digestible and is good for those suffering from poor digestion.

Use herbs and spices

Using herbs and spices in your daily diet will boost your immunity and make you strong from the inside. Some herbs like turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, garlic, mint and holy basil are examples of antioxidants that are beneficial for your health.

Wash fruits and veggies properly

This monsoon try bitter vegetables like bitter gourd, bottle gourd, neem, etc, as they can help improve your digestion and increase your immunity. Don't eat any uncooked meal or salads unless they're organic and can be properly cleaned.

Avoid outside food

Do not eat food from outside during this time of the year. It increases your risk of infections because your chances of consuming contaminated food are high. You already know the fact that outside food is not unhygienic enough and having them could result in food poisoning and other health issues. Also, avoid stale food.
