Set in the time when India was under the British Raj, the basic story of the film revolves around a daughter who wants to revenge the Britisher, John Clive (Lloyd Owen) who killed her family. The daughter and princess Zafira (Fatima Sana Shaikh), is a master archer trained under Khudabaksh aka Azad (Amitabh Bachchan)- a trustee soldier of Zafira's father. Eleven years later, fates bring Friangi Mallah (Aamir Khan) in their lives and that's when the real story begins! As Aamir himself said recently, Firangi is someone you adore but can’t be friends with him. His jade color coat is a clear indication that he's a chameleon and cannot be trusted. He gets hired by the Britishers’ head John to capture Azad and his army of rebellions. Firangi demands a hefty amount of money and the release of his friend Chawani Prasad (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub). From now it’s all about the chameleon-like trait of Aamir and whether or not is he on the side of British.
