Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry have been added to the performers list of the 2019 MusiCares Person of the year tribute to Dolly Parton along with Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. Other performers like Shawn Mendes, Willie Nelson, Vince Gill, Don Henley, Mavis Henley and Chris Stapleton also include the list of performers for the tribute to Parton. The sources tell that the new performers would soon be announced.
Born on 19 January 1946, Dolly is a well known singer, song writer, actress, author, philanthropist and businesswoman. She initially worked as a song writer and later with continuous hard work and efforts she launched her first music album on February 13, 1967 named “Hello, I’m Dolly”. In the 1970s she was lucky enough to see her albums getting appreciations as her sales started rising. Even though in the 1990s, her album sales started declining but she was successful to regain it till 2000s by launching albums independently.
Moreover, she has been successful making 25 of her songs reach No. 1 on the Billboard music chart which serves as a record for any female artist. From past 40 years of her career, victoriously, she could get 41 of her albums included in the career Top 10 country albums in addition to 110 of her singles. As a winner of nine Grammy awards, ten Country Music Association Awards, three American Music Awards and seven Academy of Country Music Awards Parton will now be given a tribute as Person of the Year at 2019 MusiCares. Apart from all, she has also shared the screen with Miley Cyrus in Hannah Montana playing the role of her Aunt which was another of her commendable performances as an actress.
MusiCares has previously honoured various musicians like Aretha Franklin and Bruce Springsteen. In 2019, it has chosen to honour the 8 time Grammy winner, Dolly Parton, as the Person of the Year. The venue for the ceremony is decided to be Los Angeles Convention Centre. The event shall be taking place at L.A.’s Staples Centre on 10th February 2019 two nights before the 61st Grammy Awards
