As expected, Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 is dominating the box-office, nationally as well as internationally. This big-budget movie has earned over Rs 620 crore worldwide within just 11 days of its release! The grand total has surpassed the business of Sanju (Rs 542 crore) and Padmaavat (Rs 560 crore) to become the highest Indian grosser at the worldwide box office of this year.
Produced by Lyca Productions and helmed by S. Shankar, 2.0 released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi on November 29. According to an official poster, the film crossed 400 crore within the first few days of the release. It features Rajinikanth in three different avatars, Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey.
Talking about Rajinikanth's commitment at the trailer launch of the movie, Shankar said, "When we were all set to shoot the climax in a stadium in Delhi, Rajini Sir fell ill. Six months of planning had gone into the preparation of the climax which was supposed to be shot in 40 days. Despite his bad health, Rajini Sir insisted that we go ahead with the shoot."
"We shot in extremely hot temperature. Rajini Sir had to shoot wearing 12 kg robotic suit. We were stunned by his commitment," he added.
The film was made on a budget of Rs. 600 crores and also marks the regional debut of Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar.
