After Kangana's spectacular entrance in Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's wedding reception, she is making us drool all over her at the latest appearance in the prestigious 71st Cannes Film Festival. The Queen of Bollywood looked ravishing in a pink and gold Gaurang Shah Kanjeevaram organza sari at the wonderful wedding reception but for the film festival, she chose to go retro with style in a shimmery black Sabyasachi sari.
Kangana will be next seen in Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi
According to the description provided by Sabyasachi, this sari is a take on "Aakash-tara or starry skies”. "The saree is hand-dyed and embellished with hand-cut sequins that are individually sewn using zardosi technique, to create a metallic, yet fluid fabric.
Her look is accessorized with a Sabyasachi batua and the ‘teenmaniya’ necklace, crafted out of rose-cut diamonds, Colombian emeralds and basra pearls from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry Collection," says the description. Going as classy yet basic, she decided to pair the sari with a basic sleeveless black blouse and a winged eye-makeup. You can easily spot the similarities with Sharmila Tagore and Vyjayanthimala from the times they ruled the silver screen. Further, she chose to accessorize with a ‘Sabyasachi batua’ and a ‘teenmaniya’ necklace from Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry Collection, which according to the designer’s Instagram post is “crafted out of rose-cut diamonds, Colombian emeralds and basra pearls.”
Attending the festival in association with liquor brand Grey Goose, Kangana said, "It is overwhelming to witness the recognition and appreciation for Indian cinema at international platforms like Cannes."
Deepika Padukone will walk the Cannes red carpet on May 10 and 11. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and newlywed Sonam Kapoor Ahuja will walk the red carpet on May 12-13 and May 14-15, respectively.
