Today is a very sad day for the television industry. Gautam Adhikari, one of the founders of the oldest television productions houses, Shri Adhikari Brothers, has passed away due to a heart attack.
He is survived by wife Ranjana and two children.
Kanchan Adhikari, the wife of Gautam's brother and SAB Group co-founder Markand said, "Gautam was earlier unwell because of kidney transplant but had been doing quite alright lately. But he got a massive heart attack at 2.30 am and passed away."
Gautam was the chairman and whole time director of the SAB group. The company’s official website reads that it was started as a small family owned partnership firm by brothers Gautam and Markand in 1985, and went on to become the first publicly-listed television production company in India when it was mentioned on the BSE in 1995.
Gautam also wore the director’s hat and helmed many serials, including Hello Inspector, Commandar, Marshall, Silsila and Waqt ki Raftar etc. His name was listed in the Limca Books of Records 1999 for “directing maximum episodes”. He provided his creative expertise for the production of various contents by our Company.
