The Padmaavat actress is already winning hearts for her role in the movie and now Deepika's father Prakash Padukone was honoured with the Badminton association of India's First Lifetime Achievement Award on Monday by the Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu.
Padmaavat stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, has entered the 100 crore club.
Deepika who has won million awards in her Bollywood career, but got emotional watching her father win the award. The whole Padukone family was present at the event.
Padukone who is ranked World No.1 badminton player in 1980, has won 3golds and 4 bronze medals representing India in different tournaments across the globe. On receiving the award, Mr. Prakash said, It is a privilege for me to receive this lifetime achievement award in its inaugural year. I played badminton at a time when not many knew what the sport was all about. I am glad to have played a small part in what game has achieved today. I played purely for the love of the game without expecting anything in return. And to see how much I can challenge myself despite there being no facilities.
If appropriate systems are put in place India can be on par with other leading badminton nations of the world. However, if we do not achieve this, it will not be due to lack of talent in the country, he concluded his speech.
Well, while Prakash Padukone will bring home his trophy, his daughter Deepika has made him extremely proud with his latest movie Padmaavat.
