Bollywood's veteran actor, Rishi Kapoor who will soon be reuniting on the big screen with Amitabh Bachchan after 25 years in 102 Not Out, took to his Twitter account to make an announcement of his next cameo role in an critically-acclaimed film by actress-filmmaker Nandita Das.
The film is slated to release in 2018
"I have done one scene in Nandita Das' film 'Manto' in a cameo. Just for the respect and admiration I have for her," Rishi tweeted on Sunday. This came after Rishi referred working in Manto as a 'wrong' call.
"Some mischief monger has tried to create a wedge between her and me. Absolutely untrue! I support the film and wish her all the best at Cannes Film Festival," he tweeted.
Set during the partition of India, the film follows the life of the controversial writer Saadat Hasan Manto, who is known for his writing about the partition.
It is the only Indian film in Un Certain Regard category of the Cannes Film Festival, to be held from May 8-19. The film features Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rasika Dugal and Tahir Raj Bhasin.
