We've been going gaga over Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s elder daughter, Janhvi Kapoor ever since we heard that she is making her Bollywood debut in Dharma Productions’ next venture, Dhadak!! It was exciting but it was also no biggie; it was supposed to happen and many already knew that veteran filmmaker Karan Johar will be the one to do it.
Dhadak is slated to release on July 20, 2018
However, Janhvi doesn't believe it’s because of her legendary parents or the Kapoor surname that she got such a big break. She sparked up the nepotism debate all over again in an exclusive interview with Harper’s Bazaar magazine India as their July issue's cover girl.
“I actually did audition. Karan (Johar) came home and made me do a few readings of different scenes and eventually that evolved into getting a part in this film,” Janhvi said.
I'm sorry but I would like to point out something, Karan Johar- the biggest filmmaker in India- came to YOUR house to make YOU read lines. It is anything but an audition!
Talking about why he chose Janhvi, Karan said: “I think Manish Malhotra is the fashion father of Janhvi. He knows her for a long time. He used to keep talking about her so much that I felt like I know her even before meeting her. Then I went to meet her family where I saw her. Then later when I met her personally, I saw her potential to be on-screen and saw that spark and excitement."
