Kangana Cracks up at Jim Sarbh’s rape Joke only to be scorned by fans

Amidst heinous rapes like Nirbhaya, Kathua and Unnao,it is insensitive to crack a joke about such a horrendous crime. Padmaavat’s actor Jim Sarbh has apparently cracked a 'rape' joke at 71st Cannes Film Festival which has become the talk of the town. This joke hasn’t been received well by fans across the nation.

The video has shown Jim Sarbh cracking many tasteless jokes to which Kangana cracked up.

As if people were less disturbed by this development, what infuriated them further was Kangana’s  cracking up on this joke. B-town’s Queen, Kangana Ranaut has slammed Salman Khan’s rape statement last year and now she has been condemned as a ‘hypocrite’ by Twitterati for laughing at his tasteless joke.kangana ranaut

According to the video, Jim was seen cracking a bland joke at an event on the tangent of the Cannes International Film Festival, he said: "I'd rather be raped by 12 prostitutes than touch alcohol and the Punjabi says 'Me too, I didn't know that was an option'." We fail to understand what left Kangana and other people in splits over this poor joke.

Jim's spokesperson are saying that the Mumbai based actor was simply portraying some parts of his play that happens to be a dark satire. They allegedly say that this video was shot without his consent According to his representatives, Sarbh’s comments have been misinterpreted and misconstrued.

Everyone should be allowed a chance to clarify. When contacted by media, Jim spoke his heart out,  “First of all, I understand the environment we live in just now, in light of recent events, but more frankly, in light of events going on since the beginning of human consciousness, rape is a deadly serious issue. I treat it as such. The joke that I made is about a Priest blowing a very casual question completely out of proportion, condemning alcohol, prostitutes, and rape all simultaneously. The Punjabi (or whichever ethnicity, depending on the audience) responds to the situation by consenting to it and expressing his sexual proclivities. I personally do not find it to be about a desire to rape, or to inflict sexual violence upon another, but a subversive and comedic response to an extremely volatile sentence.”

Jim shared his views on rape while adding, “I did not intend to hurt anybody, and I certainly do not consider actual sexual or physical violence funny.”

Bollywood celebrities are viewed as youth icons who bring in positive change that others fail to create. If such comments become prevalent over any type of media, then it is sad to say that people will stop looking up to them as game-changers.
