Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut, who is riding high on the success of her latest release Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, seems to have landed herself in trouble once again. While the trouble is always around the Rangoon actor, however, this time criticism comes from within.
Supporting cast actress Mishti Chakravarty, who was also seen in Vidya Balan starrer Begum Jaan, has shared some insight regarding what might have actually happened during Ranaut’s directorial reign. In an exclusive interview with a leading daily, Chakravarty compared Balan and Ranaut’s attitude and professionalism.
"To glorify yourself, you don't need to put others down. If you are great, you will stand out in the crowd. If however, you don't have the confidence in yourself, then you just want it all by yourself. That is how I look at it, I am not judging anyone over here. I am not talking about Kangana or Vidya. But then I have seen Vidya Balan. There may be 10 women around her but she still stands out in the crowd. She never tried to chop off anybody's character. She didn't need to," she said.
For the uninitiated, Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika has been in controversy ever since the film was announced. Firstly, director Krish left the project mid-way due to disagreements with Kangana and so did Simmba actor Sonu Sood.
These revelations made by Mishti do help us in clearing some dots because allegations of chopping off scenes of other actors like Kulkarni, Sonu Sood (who was previously in the film), Ankita Lokhande have been made previously.
Further discussing the confusion regarding the repective director of movie, Mishti was asked whether its true that Kangana directed 70 per cent of the film and hence took first credit as director. Replying to this, she simply laughed off!
"When I saw the film, I was really upset about my scenes being removed. After the movie, I didn't even speak to anyone. I just walked out of the theatre. Although, I did see the end credits and I saw Kangana's name before Krish as director. Krish directed this film right from the beginning to almost the end. He deserves to be credited as the director of this film first," she said.
Talking about the movie, Mishti revealed how Kangana Ranaut used to call her for re-shoots suggesting that she wanted to flesh her role better and make her screen-appearance more prominent. However, that was all a lie and Kangana just chopped off her scenes from the final edit. Mishti insists that she was made fake promises by Kangana and that she should have been honest about her intentions in the beginning instead of cheating her.
Talking about Krish, Mishti said that he is one of the most credible filmmakers in south and that is why he is directed a big film like the NTR biopic. She stressed on the point that he is a National Film Award winner for a reason.
