Whenever there is a Rajkummar Rao film on its way, there is a special kind of excitement in every Bollywood buff. This time, the exquisite actor has teamed up with the multi-talented Hansal Mehta to bring to life terrorist Omar Saeed Shaikh's life in Omerta.
The film has been postponed to May 4, 2018
In the three-minute-long, you will see Rajkummar Rao in a new avatar. The trailer opens with a shot of Rajkummar as Omar Saeed Shaikh torturing an individual. “You are conspiring to destroy Islam, but I won’t let that happen,” he says. And then there are shots of the World Trade Centre collapsing, followed by other quick shots of crimes Shaikh has committed. The trailer shows two sides of Shaikh, one being the world of Shaikh as a British resident and the other, Shaikh as the terrorist that he is. You'll notice the repetition of the word 'Allah' by Rajkummar that is because Shaikh claims himself to be the saviour of the new world.
In an interview, Rajkummar confessed that the character of Omar Saeed Shaikh had taken over him. He said, "My first as an anti-hero and exhausting as an actor. To feel the hate towards another human being without any remorse can take quite a toll." Omerta has been screened at many esteemed film festivals, where it got nothing better than the best compliments by everyone.
Based on the real life story of terrorist Omar Saeed Shaikh, who was responsible for 9/11, the 2002 kidnapping and murder of journalist Daniel Pearl in Pakistan and the 2008 Mumbai attacks, among other heinous crimes.
On the work front, Rajkummar Rao will be next seen in Fanne Khan, starring Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, also he will be sharing the screen space with Sonam Kapoor in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga.
