Indian politicians are trying hard in order to influence Indian cinema. Recently, a senior BJP leader has written to the Censor Board for banning Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan starrer Kedarnath for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.

Directed by Abishek Kapoor, Kedarnath is a romantic story which revolves around the devastating natural calamity of 2013 that shook the shrine of Kedarnath, Uttrakhand. A member of Uttarakhand BJP’s media relations team, Ajendra Ajay wrote to Central Board of Film Certification Chairman Prasoon Joshi, alleging that even though the Abhishek Kapoor-directed movie was based on one of the worst human tragedies, it made fun of Hindu sentiments.
BJP representatives also objected to an intimate scene between debutant Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput that takes place at a holy place'of India, 'Kedarnath'. Ajay said that the movie is an attack at the religious sentiments of Hindus.
BJP leader Ajay said: "By setting a romantic love story against the backdrop of a huge tragedy that occurred at Kedarnath, a centre of faith for crores of Hindus, the filmmakers have shown great disrespect to the followers of the religion.”
He further accused the movie of promoting love-jihad as it is the love-story of a Hindu and a Muslim pilgrim. He insisted on finding a Hindu lead character for the movie.
Bhartiya Janta Party's members have urged CBFS chief to impose a ban on the movie. Kedarnath is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Pragya Kapoor. Sushant Singh Rajput starrer romantic drama movie is expected to release on 7th December 2018.
