Returning to the infamous sansaakari way, CBFC decided to trim Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt's kiss scene from Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy, which is scheduled to release this Valentine's Day. The board has asked the team to cut that particular scene down by 13 seconds, besides making it a wide shot instead of a close-up of Ranveer and Alia.
The film, revolving around the rap culture in India, has been certified as 'UA' after the cuts. Speaking about the same, producer Ritesh Sidhwani revealed that they have no objections with their decision. “It is absolutely fine,” he said.
Apart from this, the CBFC has also asked for four more changes. Form removing the name of liquor brand Royal Stag to cuss words, the Pahlaj Nihalani fever is once again taking over the system. This, perhaps, is a first where the name of a brand partner has been removed simply because it is an alcohol brand.
On a related note, Gully Boy is the story of an aspiring rapper named Murad, played by Ranveer, who rises from the slums of Mumbai to make a mark for himself in the world of desi hip hop.
After the film had the world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival on Saturday, praises showered on the film and Zoya, with several viewers calling it her best work till date.
