Sacred Games: After all the political controversy, director Kashyap reacts to Rahul Gandhi’s tweet!

Netflix first Indian web series, Sacred Games has taken the Internet by shock. After many complaints and controversy regarding foul language and defamation of the prestigious Gandhi family, West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee member Rajiv Sinha on Monday withdrew his police complaint against the web series.

Sacred Games released on July 6th, 2018 on Netflix

This comes after party president Rahul Gandhi tweeted that the freedom of expression was a “fundamental democratic right”. “BJP/RSS believe the freedom of expression must be policed & controlled. I believe this freedom is a fundamental democratic right. My father lived and died in the service of India. The views of a character on a fictional web series can never change that," Rahul tweeted.

To which filmmaker Anurag Kashyap replied, "That's a yay!"

“Rahulji’s tweet was an eye-opener for me. I completely agree with him that Bharat Ratna late Rajiv Gandhijee and his contribution and charisma are above such petty things. As members of Congress, we should stick to our principles of Gandhism…There is so much of hatred all around that we cannot promote intolerance. For the sake of the integrity and unity of our country, it is the need of the hour," Rajiv Sinha said in an interview.

Produced by Phantom Films, Sacred Games is based on Vikram Chandra's 2006 thriller novel of the same name. It features Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Kubra Sait.
