Toilet: Ek Prem Katha earned Rs. 2.166 billion on the box-office

Bhumi Pednekar and Akshay Kumar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha made it to Bill Gate's list for spreading awareness about the problem of sanitation in India. In his recent tweet, Gates said, "3/ “Toilet: A Love Story,” a Bollywood romance about a newlywed couple, educated audiences about India’s sanitation challenge.”


The story of the film revolves around a newlywed couple, who live in an under-developed village and the woman starts to face problem when she is expected to walk to the fields to do her business. This highlighted the sanitary problem and various government sectors came forward for spreading the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan message.


Woven with a love story, the film was inspired by true events and hence, created quite an impact on the audience.
