The underdog of Bollywood, Diljit Dosanjh has done wonders with his latest release, Soorma. While facing competition with Marvel movie Ant-Man and the Wasp and Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju, Soorma still remains to stay strong with earning a sum of Rs 15.85 crore till now.
Soorma released on July 13th, 2018
Shaad Ali's directorial venture opened at Rs 3.20 crore at the box office, and during the weekend, it made Rs 5.05 crore and Rs 5.60 crore, respectively. However, good word-out-mouth has really helped the movie. Diljit Dosanjh, Taapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi as hockey players have really fantasised the audience as well as the judges.
“It’s just the kind of real-life story which can lend itself to a goose-bump inducing film because that’s what great sportspersons are trained to do: straining every sinew, ignoring pain and exhaustion, in order to get past the goal-post. Or, in the instance of Sandeep Singh aka Flicker Singh, who gained fame as the fastest ‘drag flick’ player ever, to score the goals. Diljit Dosanjh as Sandeep Singh is spot on. And that is the film’s biggest triumph,” Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta said about the movie.
Based on the life of Indian hockey player Sandeep Singh, the film is written by Suyash Trivedi, Shaad Ali, and Siva Ananth.
