We were thrilled when Shekhar Kapur's mega blockbuster, Mr. India was in the process of coming again but as per recent developments, the makers have decided to shelve the project forever. While there were reports that SriDevi's husband Boney Kapoor and Anil Kapoor who featured in the original film with the actress will produce the sequel, things have taken a different turn now.

According to sources, the producers have dropped the plan to make a sequel without the two of the most iconic stars- Sridevi and Amrish Puri. "It makes no sense to have a sequel without Sridevi. It's like Mother India without Nargis, Or Agra without the Taj Mahal," said the source.
"Mr. India is so closely associated with three main actors Anil Kapoor, Amrish Puri and Sridevi. With two of them gone it would be impossible to recreate the magic of the original. Boney and Anil have decided to call off the sequel plans," the source added.
SriDevi made her Bollywood comeback after fifteen years with English Vinglish. Boney Kapoor, then revealed his plans of making a sequel with Sridevi and Anil Kapoor.
