Director Vipul Shah’s 2007 blockbuster movie Namastey London starred one of the Bollywood’s favourite jodi , Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. Recently, Vipul revealed that he wanted the same duo for his upcoming movie Namaste England as well but both the actors refused to do the same.
Namaste England is all set to release on October 18, 2018.
Akshay and Katrina were the first choice for Vipul Shah’s upcoming movie, Namaste England which now features Ishqzaare pair Parineeti Chopra along with Arjun Kapoor. When the ace filmmaker had a word with the previous movie actors they both had some issues and they both denied doing the film. While Katrina Kaif could not relate to the role Akshay Kumar was busy with prior commitments.
Vipul mentioned in an interview that Katrina could not connect to the Indian desi girl’s role in 2018 release and that is why the role went on to Parineeti Chopra who is perfect for the same. Whereas, Akshay had some prior commitments to filfil and his schedule was booked for another two years therefore, the role went on to well-deserved Arjun Kapoor who will perfectly do justice for the male lead in Namaste England.
"Katrina could not have been an Indian desi girl. We both did speak about it. And she said this role is something that people may not accept her in. I was going to do the film with Akshay but his dates were blocked for two years so he recommended I go to another actor," Vipul explained further that this is why he met Arjun and certainly it was for the best.
"I met Arjun and I told him I was going to do this with Akshay but he doesn't have dates. He heard the script and agreed to do it and that's how he came into the picture. I wanted someone desi who can also look modern and who has got a certain honesty in his face. He was the most suited boy for the part. Parineeti was already part of it when I was going to do it with Akshay," he added.
The 2007 superhit Namastey London was Vipul’s directorial debut, pairing Akshay-Katrita and the music was loved for many following years. Vipul also said he is aware that people love original over a sequel and there would be lots of comparisons between these two movies.
"I am sure eight out of ten people will say 'Namastey London' was better, this is bad, because its human nature, whatever is old is gold. They must've have seen 'Namastey London' so many times; have been listening to its music all these years. And that's because you are already emotionally connected to the first one so you treat this as a lesser cousin of the original one," Vipul mentioned in the same interview.
He goes on to clarify that Namaste England is not a sequel of Namaste London and he’s not carrying forward any franchise with this movie;“People tell us to make sequels of 'Singh is Kinng', 'Holiday' and other films. There is a demand for it. There's no dearth of fresh ideas. Even in sequels, the story is new, just the world is similar.”
Although there are rumours about Akshay is probebaly going to do a special cameo in the 2018 film as a picture of Parineeti and Arjun from the sets with Khiladi of Bollywood has been going viral since the last few days.
Namaste England is all set to release on coming Thursday i.e. October 18, 2018.
