Finally, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's daughter has made her debut in Bollywood with Abhishek Kapoor directorial, Kedarnath. Based on the real-life incidents that took place during 2013 in Uttrakhand, Kedarnath was a much anticipated project.
Starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara, Kedarnath failed to create the same aura as its trailer did. It seems like its cinematography failed to impress the audience.
Kai Po Che actor Sushant and Sara Ali Khan have done a commendable job in portraying their characters; Mansoor Khan and Mandakini Mishra aka Mukku. The love-story between a Muslim boy and a Hindu girl takes the main stage in the movie. However, holy pilgrimage Kedarnath fails to add an element of spice in the movie.
The historic catastrophe of Kedarnath was used as the background of the love-story by Rock On director, Abhishek. And the task of recreating a natural disaster on-screen fell straight on the makers' face. And as expected the ending of the movie can easily be predicted which created a lag in the second half of the movie.
It won't be wrong to say that the first introductory half of Kedarnath is way better than its catastrophic and predictable second half.
Talking about its screenplay, Mansoor and Mukku's love-story is very well-written and is equally compelling. Both the actors; Sara and Sushant brilliantly portrayed their characters on-screen. In the movie, Mansoor Khan is a mule (who carries people on their backs) and is well-aware of the local routes and customs of Kedarnath, Uttrakhand.
Actor Nishant Dahiya plays the role of a representative of the local priests, Kullu. Nishant aka Kullu is a hot-headed pro-Hindu activist who is always looking for business opportunities. Co-incidentally Mukku is Kullu's fiancé, who falls in love with a Muslim mule.
The scenic beauty of Uttrakhand will surely win your heart and is beautifully used in the movie, Kedarnath. As far as the debutant Sara Ali Khan is concerned, her fierce character and bold acting will not let you feel that she's a newbie in the industry.
More than anything or anyone, it is Sushant Singh Rajput who pulls the story of Kedarnath together. He easily portrays the character of a good-hearted Muslim mule that falls in love with the daughter of a Hindu priest.
For obvious reasons, Mansoor and Mukku face a lot of troubles for expressing their feelings for each other. And soon, nature wrecks havoc on the world of Mansoor and Mukku which changes the movie completely.
Even though the actors performed brilliantly and Uttrakhand's scenic beauty looks charming on-screen yet Kedarnath's second half is slightly difficult to digest.
As per our final verdict, we will like to award 4 out of 10 stars to the Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan starrer. Please share your views in the comment's section below. And stay tuned for more entertainment related updates.
