Petta movie review: Time to live the Thalaivar moments with legend Rajinikanth

The Rajinikanth we have all been gushing over from years is back in Karthik Subbaraj’s directed movie Petta and we cannot thank him enough for this.

With the amazing acting skills and unique qualities of being an awesome entertainer, our legend makes the movie special for his diehard fans. The movie with its story reminds us of his movie Sivaji. Petta is a release of the year that introduces us to the fact that a good director can never let the skills of an actor go in vain. That is exactly what is portrayed onscreen with the involvement of ace actor of all time Rajinikanth and his Thalaivar moments.

With a simple plot and commendable direction of Subbaraj, the movie remains unpredictable till the end sticking the audience tight to their seats. The first half of the movie captures the actor taking admission to a hostel with a name Kaali and soon becoming the coolest one in the campus. The first part also comprises of heart-warming romance shared with Mangalam aka Simran and Kaali continuing to being suspicious about the dark side of the fun person.

As the movie starts to build, the second half of the movie gives an ample amount of time to the flashbacks playing on the screen. On a comparison with the first part of the movie which is all fun and entertaining the second part, at moments, appears like a stretch with the script. Though that can be neglected in exchange for the bliss you are going to experience by watching Robot star onscreen. Later, towards its end, the movie picks up the pace and ends in a most unpredictable way.

The star of the movie and the Indian cinema makes the movie a delightful watch. Not just Rajini won the appreciations and love of the audience; the other movie actors have also played their roles to the best of their abilities. Sasikumar, Vijay Sethupathy, Bobby Simha and Trisha, all were the right match for the movie. However, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was an under-utilized one seeming totally out of the place in some of the scenes.

As a viewer, we cannot resist the positive nostalgia that the movie gifts. Rajinikanth has one more time did exceptionally well in the movie making it worth a watch.

According to us, we award the movie 7.5 stars out of 10.
