Race 3 Movie Review: A disinterested Salman Khan fails to impress!

It doesn't matter whether you are a Salman Khan fan or not because India has been eagerly waiting for the third instalment from the Race series. Having Salman obviously made everything better but only if the makers opted for a better writer! This movie has been the talk of the town but sadly, it has failed to impress us.

There is no story line but I'll try to tell you what's in there. One dysfunctional family of Shamsher Singh (Anil Kapoor) with of course, some major family conflicts between Shamsher’s step son Sikandar (Salman Khan) and twin children Sanjana (Daisy Shah) & Suraj (Saqib Saleem). Then comes Yash (Bobby Deol), as Sikandar’s bodyguard with his girlfriend Jessica (Jacqueline Fernandez). But just like the previous two Race movies, you'll see a kick-ass surprise where their positions are swapped and Yash becomes his boy-friend. Following this, Remo has tried to run both tracks and messed them up while pretending to make some sense out of it.

The team has tried their best to execute the infamous Race formula but they forgot that you need brains while copying too. Remo D’Souza has made full use of the good cars and weapons but only if could hire a good screenwriter too! The movie is all about being a big-shot and stylish but there's no fun without a good story, is there? Shiraz Ahmed’s story is so stretched it’s yawn-provoking. Somewhere in the middle, it feels like he is forcing the twists and turns which don't surprise you but only disappoint. The only good thing about the film, its action is also not in proper proportions. Salman & Bobby’s face-off fight is poorly shot using the shaky slo-mos with tacky black & white effects.

You won't believe when I say this but Salman Khan was okay-ish. He looks HOT AF but he's too disinterested. I think, Salman is in such a habit of delivering hits that working on such commas of his career just makes his sad. Jai Ho, Tubelight & Race 3 are such commas for Salman Khan. But he looked HOT!! The Race franchise cannot be alive without Anil Kapoor, he's the soul of the movie since Day 1. Bobby Deol is a pure misfit. I mean, from his car sequences to actions and dialogue, why is he even there? Jacqueline Fernandez & Daisy Shah look SUPER HOT throughout but that’s about it. They share some action sequences & they’re good but dragged. One word for Saqid Saleem, out-rightly horrible!

Remo D'Souza has tried to do a good job but only if he had a story! The entire movie is unclear and happening for no good reason. I so wish Abbas-Mustan come up with their version of Race 3 starring Saif Ali Khan & Akshaye Khanna (It’s crazy but it’s so amazing to even think of).

Meet Bros, Vishal Mishra, Jam8, Tushar Joshi, Vicky-Hardik, Gurinder Seagal, Kiran Kamath – 8 composers orchestrating 7 forced songs. None of them apart from Sansain Hai Dhuan worked for me. Heeriye is a chart-buster but till the time it comes in the movie you’ll be too uninterested even to hear that.

Well, just don’t expect anything while walking in the theatre. This movie is nothing more than 5.5/10!
