What better way to end 2017 than watching Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif on the silver screen with the much awaited actioner Tiger Zinda Hai. Releasing today, the film can be termed as one of the best espionage thrillers in Bollywood. Sequel to the 2012 Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger, this one has unlimited action and the heartwarming chemistry between Salman and Katrina. Above all, Tiger Zinda Hai has a lot of Ali Abbas Zafar in it.
The movie begins with an intense backdrop of what he has in store for us. A bus full of nurses gets hijacked by terrorist organization- ISC in Iraq. There is no one better for this mission, than Tiger. But you might think didn't he go into an exile towards the end of Ek Tha Tiger, but as Irshad Kamil clears in Zinda Hai song “Zinda hai zinda rahega woh jab tak marne ki usne thaani nahi”. As for Tiger, he is in Alps, with Zoya and Junior Tiger but he decides to back him country achieving a mission looking impossible on paper. And as we know it, Tiger likes to do things his way. Starting by making his own team, the rest of the story covers the stages of the mission. It also shows how the movie is not just about Tiger’s task, it has a broader point of view which Ali reveals in the later half.
The director nails it in every way. He along with Nilesh Misra, who also co-wrote Ek Tha Tiger, have created magic on the silver screen. Though the film is not perfect but it's way more better than what Bollywood has to offer. Moreover, the story has so much more to explore, giving it an international touch and not to miss some must- subtly written dialogues.
We know the star cast of the movie and we know that it is the best! Salman Khan, did what he is best at- entertain everyone and be loved. The chemistry that he has with the director, is completely visible and it is one of the reasons, why this movie will be a blockbuster! Katrina Kaif is fantastic! Though she has very few dialogues but work wise and her expression, she has turned into an athlete for this one. Performing some major action sequences, she is flawless. Now the bomb defuser of the movie, Angad Bedi has totally justified his part. Kumud Mishra and Girish Karnad are also impactful in their little roles. Paresh Rawal, even in this intense scenario, manages to make you laugh.
Director Ali Abbas Zafar, with the backing of Yash Raj Films have given us a good film to remember 2017. Ali, however, has stuck to basics and goes huge whenever it was needed in the story. Though he tries to infuse patriotism in the story, it was fine with me but still unclear how others will accept it. Julius Packiam has done a mind-blowing job with the background score. Knowing the situations very well, Julius tries to paint a poetry with his music. Vishal-Shekhar’s songs are also used well in the story without disturbing the plot.
Helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, Tiger Zinda Hai deserves 8.5/10! First and foremost reason to watch Tiger Zinda Hai is obviously Salman Khan and second, the makers have unabashedly promised reckless amount of action. The team has even roped in Tom Struthers who has worked in Hollywood hits like The Dark Knight and Inception to design the fight scenes in the film. Who doesn’t want to watch Salman Khan fighting the bad guys with some world-class punches? BOOK NOW!
