Zero Movie Review: Aanand L. Rai's directorial is unbelievable, unending and insipid!

The most anticipated project of the year, 'Zero' has finally hit the theatres and people are eager to know whether SRK starrer is worth the time or not. The fact that all the SRK-fans have already booked their tickets to the Aanand L Rai's directorial is inevitable.

Shah Rukh, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma starrer 'Zero' was a much-awaited project as the audience was eager to witness a dwarf SRK aka Bauaa Singh but the fact that Bauaa is nothing but SRK without a few inches, is pretty sad for the makers. The characters are not well-written and the series of events which are supposed to combine the elements of 'Zero', are actually riping it apart.

The movie begins in the remote town Meerut, UP where a vertically-challenged man, Bauaa Singh (SRK) spent 38-years of his life with his parents. There is no doubt that Tanu Weds Manu hit-maker has once again done a commendable job in portraying a small-town family's life.

However, the characters are not well-played with. Bauaa Singh is a-typical-SRK without a couple of inches which if anything is a VFX triumph, that’s it. Talking about Anushka Sharma in the role of scientist Aafia Yusufzai Bhinder; NH10 actress gave her best in portraying the role of 'an emotional female Stephen Hawking' but once-again, it turns out to be a poorly-written character.

The story of 'Zero' is itself not very convincing. Bauaa 'The Bauna' Singh somehow lands up in the middle of a love triangle with Aafia (Anushka) and a troubled actress, Babita Kumari (Katrina Kaif). And as soon as the director introduces both of the heroines to Bauaa Singh, the upcoming events of the movie become completely predictable and lame

A paralysed scientist, Aafia in a traditional Indian bride's attire is roaming on the streets on his wheelchair when she could've easily asked her driver to help her. Sadly, the above mentioned scene is one of the most serious scenes from the SRK starrer.

Soon Aafia dies and the dust settles in Bauaa's life. Our mighty little hero realises that he has lost his true-love which was paralysed scientist, Aafia and not beautiful actress, Babita Kumari. SRK as Bauaa parts ways with actress Babita and gets into an endless guilt-trip.

What's left behind is Bauaa's family including his mother, father and best friend, Guddu aka Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub.

The unending second-half of Zero, has a yet-another indigestible surprise element planned in the life of Bauaa Singh. Inspired by the death of his ex-girlfriend-scientist Aafia Bhinder (Anushka), Bauaa becomes an astronaut and flies into the space because nothing is impossible in Aanand L Rai's world.

As per our final verdict, we are not amused with dwarf Bauaa's story for the simple reason that the whole concept of his story are illogical and lame. The makers failed to grasp the audience's mind. Hence, we will like to award 4 out of 10 stars to the SRK, Katrina and Anushka starrer.
