According to reports, Ajith has been roped in for the official Tamil remake of 2016’s critically acclaimed movie, Pink starring legend Amitabh Bachchan, Kirti Kulhari and Taapsee Pannu in pivotal roles. If these reports are to be believed, the Vedalam actor will be reprising Bachchan’s character for the same.
Bankrolled by veteran Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor, Padma Bhushan recipient AR Rahman will score the music for the remake, which is tentatively called Thala 59.
Pink was based on a courtroom drama which signified the importance of woman’s dignity and respect. It outlined that no woman can be forced for anything and if she refuses then it means something serious. The film was made on a budget of Rs 20 crores and was specially screened for the Rajasthan Police.
Helmed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhary, Pink garnered the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues. Written by Shoojit Sircar, Ritesh Shah and Aniruddha Roy Chowdhary, the film completed 50-day run in theaters on November 4th, 2016.
The makers are expected to make an official announcement post Diwali. According to reports, Ajith is in talks with Boney Kapoor as he had promised late actress Sridevi during the shoots of English Vinglish that he will collaborate with Boney Kapoor for a film.
On the work front, Ajith is busy in shooting for his upcoming film Viswasam which is being directed by Siva. This film marks the fourth collaboration of the duo after Veeram, Vedalam, and Vivegam.
